During the pandemic, the inability for people to socialize and meet face-to-face led to a significant increase in video calls in 2020. WhatsApp, which greatly benefited from this surge, enhanced its video call capabilities on the mobile app. However, it remained silent on video calling for the WhatsApp Web platform. Finally, after a long wait, the video call feature is becoming available for the Web Version.

The web version of the application is widely used by those who are constantly on WhatsApp. Recent additions to the web version, such as Dark Mode and story viewing, make it easy for people working on their computers to almost forget about their phones.

WhatsApp faced a temporary decline in usage, especially for work-related calls and video meetings, as apps like Google Meet and Zoom gained prominence.

However, WhatsApp has finally introduced video calls and voice calls as an option. The WhatsApp web video call feature is currently in the beta stage, but its existence has been confirmed by the company, which has caused some concern among its competitors.

Nevertheless, it is not yet clear when this feature will be made available to all users.
