Google Ad Removal and Ad Blocking

blogImg

Google is the most widely used search engine worldwide. Every day, many people enter the search engine to look for something. Because it has a large user base, many companies, brands, or businesses advertise through this search engine. However, many people find these ads annoying because so many people advertise. While advertisers may be satisfied with advertising on Google, this is not the case for users. Seeing ads constantly on the search engine or in the browser can become annoying. Therefore, users search for ways to remove Google ads. Google, the search engine itself, allows users to block and remove ads for this reason. However, these ads cannot be completely removed; only unwanted ads can be blocked or removed. To do this, there are certain steps to follow.

How to Remove Google Ads?

Unwanted ads can be removed on Google Maps, YouTube, Gmail, or Google searches. To remove ads, the steps should be adjusted based on which platform's ads you want to remove. For example, the steps to remove ads on YouTube are different from the steps to remove ads on the search engine. To remove ads, you need to first have a Google account. The steps are as follows:

For YouTube:

  1. Click on this icon on YouTube.

  2. Then, click on the 'Don't show this ad again' option, and the unwanted ad will be removed.

For Gmail:

  1. Click on the icon next to the ad.

  2. Click on 'Control ads like this' to proceed.

  3. Finally, click on 'Block this advertiser.'

For Google Search:

  1. If you're using a desktop, click on the arrow icon next to the link. On mobile devices, click on the icon next to the ad group.

  2. Next, click on 'Why this ad?'

  3. In the final step, click on 'Block this advertiser' to remove the ad.

When an advertiser is blocked, the ads directed to their websites are also blocked. However, some advertisers use multiple websites to display their ads. Therefore, all the websites of the blocked advertiser need to be blocked. While the processes of removing Google ads and blocking them may seem similar, the steps for each are different.

How to Block Ads?

For ad blocking, you can block ads on websites by clicking the 'Don't show again' button. This prevents ads from appearing again. Additionally, by blocking a specific ad, you also block similar ads from the same advertiser, preventing them from being displayed. If your Google account is signed in and personalized advertising is enabled, the ads you don't want to see will be blocked on all devices where the session is active. Here are the steps for ad blocking on Google:

  1. Click on the 'x' icon in the upper right corner of the ad you don't want to see.

  2. Then, click on 'Stop seeing this ad.' If you don't see this option, there may be a 'Report this ad' option; click on it, and the ad will be blocked.

If you've blocked all the ads you don't want to see on Google but still see ads, you may need to clear all cookies on your computer or mobile device. These steps also apply to removing ads on Google Play.

How to Remove Ads on YouTube?

To remove ads on YouTube, simply install a browser extension on your computer that allows you to watch videos without ads. Adblocker extensions for Google Chrome and Edge, for example, will prevent all ads from appearing between videos and in ad spaces. In browsers like Opera, you can choose to activate or deactivate the ad blocker. These methods are the most suitable for removing YouTube ads without affecting your viewing experience.
